Energy Efficiency Tips from Michael Dell

Michael Dell, in a recent CIO interview provided five tips for energy efficiency:  
1. CEOs must be engaged in developing strategies. A top-down energy efficiency strategy works better than a bottom- or middle-up one.
2. Consolidating data centers and virtualization are logical first steps.
3. Make sure the IT and facilities departments both understand the metrics that are being used to measure the savings and have ironed out a way to share those savings.
4. Energy conservation is not a project for just one quarter or one fiscal year.
5. Supply chain or procurement partners should be held to the same green standards as your company.

Workers Receive Incentives To Live Greener

We have all heard of various companies becoming greener by reducing their waste and buying carbon credits. However, some smaller companies are approaching the environment in a different manner - they are encouraging their employees to make friendlier environmental choices by giving them incentives. Incentives such as bonuses for purchasing fuel efficient vehicles. One such small company is Topics Entertainment Inc. in Renton, Washington.

Turbine Wind Farm in Ontario

On January 23, 2008, Bullfrog Power in partnership with Sky Generation helped to launch a six turbine wind farm in Ravenswood, Ontario. The cutting ceremony and opening celebration had over 200 guests including Ontario Minister of Energy Gerry Phillips.
