Evergreen Brick Works

We get excited every time we see or hear about people making a change, so we are extremely excited about Evergreen Brick Works.  This is a brilliant project by Evergreen and when fully completed it will be Canada’s first full fledged, large scale environmental discovery centre.  To top it off, it all happens in an urban setting!

For the project, Evergreen is transforming Toronto’s historic Don Valley Brick Works factory from a deteriorating collection of buildings into a leading-edge environmentally-based community centre.

We think that there’s no better way to make a change than starting from the bottom up.  Evergreen Brick Works will allow children and adults to experience sustainability in action, from the reuse of the heritage building, demonstration gardens, interactive displays and paths, a native plant nursery, a farmer’s market, an organic restaurant, and cultural spaces.  The potential impact on the way people look at sustainable living, especially in urban areas, is huge and should be something more cities look into.

Way to go Evergreen!
