Now is the time to start investing in the green building sector, says Jeff Feinstein of the Schuster Group and Michael Butler of Cascadia Capital. The three reasons to start investing are Smart Niche Investing, Supply and Demand, and The Retrofit Revolution.

 

Smart Niche Investing is a smart way to prevaricate risk as it offers remarkable potential in a softening real estate environment.

 

Tenants are willing to pay a premium price to live in a green building, which equates to Supply and Demand as only 7 percent of LEED applications come from existing buildings.

 

The Retrofit Revolution will see approximately 250 billion square feet of United States buildings retrofitted with the latest in green technologies. It will help to boost the economy and employ 200,000 to 400,000 workers annually.

 

According to the United States Green Building Council, green building reduces energy consumption by 30 percent, carbon emissions by 35 percent and water usage by 30 to 50 percent. It can also help reduce waste savings costs by 50 to 90 percent.
