Kodak's Quest For Sustainability Print E-mail

Kodak set out internal goals several years ago to ensure that they would become a sustainable company. Their success in meeting those goals has been so quick that new benchmarks will need to be set, according to a Kodak spokesman. The company has reduced their total energy consumption by 30% since 2002, reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 28%, and reduced occupational injury rates by 58%. 

Nabir Nasr, director of the Center of Integrated Manufacturing studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology watches sustainability in the corporate world. Nasr states that Kodak is one of a small number of companies that have created internal policies that are beyond the requirements set out by government legislation. And by doing so, appear to be closing the gap of becoming a sustainable company.
