Visit Britain announced that UK is determined to put forth a comprehensive sustainable tourism marketing strategy. UK is encouraging businesses that have not yet been accredited with green credentials (accommodation providers and visitor attractions) to participate in the new "Green Start" program to obtain certification.  As well, The International Centre for Responsible Tourism has been retained to check and endorse the certification agencies who accredit tourism providers. According to TravelMole this is the first time a national tourism office has taken steps to check and endorse a green tourism certification program.
