Xerox Vice president of Environment, Health and Safety, Patricia Calkins has put forth two concise lists on becoming more green in her white paper, “Smarter Ways to Green”. The first list looks at simple things a company can do to "green" their office while the second list focuses on what it takes for a company to put forth a meaningful corporate sustainability effort.
Ms. Calkins states that if your company is interested in "greening" your office do the following: 1. Use double sided printing and copying 2. Being to use work group printing instead of managing individual desktop printers, copiers and scanners 3. Use "scan to e-mail" features regularly 4. Use solid ink as this reduces waste 5. Use paper with the Forest Stewardship Council (FCC) certification When looking at building a meaningful corporate sustainability effort Calkin proposes you do the following: 1. Explore the entire value chain of your business 2. Use disciplined, quantitative analysis to identify your best opportunities 3. Make sure the proposed improvement or innovation will deliver both economic and environmental benefits 4. Look for easy wins that will deliver a fast payback 5. Think partnerships 6. Be innovative 7. Win people over with your passion, energy and inspiring determination Read the full white paper at Xerox |
