Staples Fires Paper Supplier |

Staples Inc. has cancelled all of it's contracts with Singapore based paper company, Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) due to concerns over the companies deforestation practices. Although APP supplied Staples with 5-9% of their total paper supply, Mark Buckley, Staples' vice president of environmental issues, told the Wall Street Journal "We decided engagement was not possible anymore," .... "We haven't seen any indication that APP has been making any positive strides" to protect the environment.
Staples is not the only company that has broken ties with APP, other companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia have done the same due to their concerns over the companies lack of environmental protection. Greenpeace has accused APP of illegally logging in Chinese and Indonesian forests. APP has denied the allegations. Read the full story at Green Biz.com |
