Nike Trash Talk Print E-mail
Friday, 15 February 2008
Nike Trash Talk - what is it? It's a new basketball shoe made completely from manufactured waste and designed by Nike. The Nike Trash Talk meets Nike's design standards and includes:
- the upper of the shoe is comprised from leather and synthetic leather waste found on the factory floor and stitched together using zig-zag sewing
- the mid-sole is comprised of ground foam scraps from the factory production line
- the outsole is comprised of rubber (environmentally preferred) and includes Nike Grind material from footwear outsole manufacturing waste
The shoe is modeled after Steve Nash, the Phoenix Suns guard and his shoe. Nike further stated that the Phoenix Suns' colorways will have shoe laces made from environmentally friendly material and the shoe box will be made of fully recycled cardboard. This is Nike's second environmentally friendly shoe - the first was released last month, known as the Air Jordan XX3.
