AAMCO Aims for Zero Waste and Increased Efficiency Print E-mail
Thursday, 07 February 2008

AAMCO announced it's Eco-Green Auto Service Certification initiative aimed at dropping its car centers waste output to zero. The initiative will also focus on improving the fuel and energy efficiency of customer's vehicles and promoting the use of less-polluting alternative fuels. Centers that meet the Eco-Green certification will make every effort to recycle solid and liquid waste, use recycled products wherever possible, and promote energy efficiency both within the shop and by customers. The biggest impact however will be the push for green services and products. For instance, an Eco-Green tune-up includes a lifetime air filter and an extended-life oil filter to reduce landfills.

"We have taken a close look at our business, and are providing a path for our franchisees to convert their centers into the cleanest car care businesses in the world," AAMCO president and CEO Todd Leff said in a statement. "AAMCO's operating formula has always been based on recycling and rebuilding motorists' transmissions to new car standards. But with the Eco-Green program, we're doing more. We have created a closed-loop environment for our centers, where whatever comes in is reused, and whatever goes out has minimal or no environmental impact."
