Sustainable Asset Management (SAM) launched The Sustainability Yearbook 2008 at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos. The Yearbook is the result of SAM analyzing over 1000 companies last year of which the best 367 are listed. Companies received various distinctions including SAM Gold, Silver and Bronze Class for their accomplishments in focusing on sustainability issues. In addition, SAM also developed a new recognition this year for the leaders of the leaders - this distinction is the Sam sector leaders and 57 companies were recognized.
SAM considers the Sustainability Yearbook as the world's most insightful publication on corporate sustainability and the challenges and opportunities that companies will face in the future. SAM has been assessing and documenting the sustainability performance of companies since 1999 and always focused on a broad range of criteria including economic, environmental and social. Each year, the 2500 largest companies in the world (as reflected in the Dow Jones Global Index) are invited to participate in the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment and the top scoring 15% are included in the Sustainability Yearbook.
