Wal-Mart to Open Energy-Efficient Supercenter |

Wal-Mart is opening a second generation High-Efficiency store in Romeoville, Ill with estimates that it will use 25 percent less energy than a conventional Supercenter. The new store is built upon technologies and lessons from the company's two original High Efficiency Stores (McKinney, Texas & Aurora, Colo) which use 20 percent less energy than conventional Supercenters. The energy savings can be attributed to the combination of a new secondary refrigeration loop and advanced water-source heating, cooling and refrigeration system.
The new store in Romeoville, Ill will also have a white roof, low flow bathroom faucets, LED lights and an advanced daylight harvesting system. Leslie Dach, Wal-Mart's executive vice president of corporate and government relations stated, "These stores are another solid step toward achieving our environmental commitments".
