Coca-Cola has expressed their desire to be more "green" by focusing on recycling of their Coke bottles. Coca-Cola is planning on building a $45 million plastics recycling plant in South Carolina setting the company's goal as having every bottle it sells in the U.S. either recycled or reused. The company will spend $60 million on its recycling efforts this year and plans to loan and / or invest $44 million in the plant project. The project is a joint venture with United Resource Recovery Corp. It is estimated that the 30 acre plant will produce approximately 100 million pounds of food-grade recyclable plastic per year.
