Major corporations around the globe have adopted sustainability, improved their efficiencies and generally ‘greened’ their operations, but the latest movement in sustainable business goes one step further: greening the supply chain.
Corporations like Wal-Mart and Home Depot have taken to supply chain management to further shrink their carbon footprints. In September Wal-Mart announced a program to measure and reduce energy usage in the production of seven common items. Home Depot has given preference to the EcoOptions line on its shelves and displays and has pledged to favour new suppliers that address sustainability. Read the full article at New York Times |
