A small outdoor gear company named Half-Moon Outfitters in North Charleston, South Carolina has become the first building to receive a LEED platinum certification under the new stringent 2.2 measurement standards. Such certification is the highest possible in North America.
Even more impressive is that the building was retro-fitted to achieve the standard, not built from scratch. Owner Beezer Molten was completely committed to meeting the demanding standards in order to help protect his livelihood: a diverse world that provides a myriad of outdoor adventure possibilities (many of which require gear!).
