British retail giant Marks and Spencer will begin charging 5p (10 cents) for a plastic bag in a move to reduce waste. The campaign was piloted in Northern Ireland and was successful in reducing bag use by 66%.
In a move to retain customers, M&S will be giving out reusable bags in the three weeks leading up to the switch. All profits made from the plastic bag sales will be donated to environmental projects in southwest England. Read the full article at Environmental Graffiti |
