Chevron Looks to Algae for Tomorrow’s Fuel Print E-mail

ImageChevron has announced plans to partner with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory to research ways of turning algae into transportation fuel.

Algae has started to get some attention as an alternative to plant-based fuels which need land that could be used for food crops. Chevron sees biofuels in general as an important future player in the energy sector as worldwide demand grows, said Don Paul, Chevron vice-president and Chief Technology Officer.
