Recently, there has been an attempt to halt automobile advertisers from running green campaigns in Europe.

Last December, in the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority prohibited Volkswagen to run an advertisement that portrayed the latest Golf model car as being a low-emissions vehicle.

Then in July, Friends of the Earth succeeded in forcing Shell to withdraw an advertisement in the Netherlands that portrayed the oil company as environmentally friendly.

Now, Reuters news agency is reporting that Norway will be instating a restrictive policy on green publicity that will enforce fines to any company that promotes an automobile as green, clean or environmentally friendly.

The new Policy is to be commenced on October 15.
