 | According to the 2006 Natural Products Marketplace Report from San Francisco based SPINS, the natural frozen and refrigerated food sector is growing 5 times faster then that of the conventional frozen foods market. It is estimated that the difference in growth is 10.6 percent versus 2.4 percent. |
A new company has joined the reigns "Blue Horizon Organic Seafood" based in Aptos. Blue Horizon provides skillet meals made with organic ingredients and is now becoming a favorite on supermarket shelves. The rise of organic foods can be best described by Tim Redmond, co-founder of Blue Horizon who states “As the demand for organic foods broadens out to the mainstream, the organic foods industry is adapting to meet the needs of more and more consumers”. The success of Blue Horizon is a result of these same consumers wanting convenience foods. A simple supply and demand quotient. *Note: The company's shrimp is certified organic by a USDA-recognized European certifier as the U.S. National Organic Program does not yet include seafood |
