Today, video games have become the fastest growing part of the media sector grossing an estimated $37.5 billion a year. It is therefore no wonder that various environmental groups are utilizing video games to tackle social and environmental issues. In fact, it is seen as games with a purpose. For instance, Red Redemption has produced games that directly address sutainability and climate change. Where as Games for Change provides support and publicity to games developed for social change. In fact, recently Games for Change partnered with Microsoft and produced the Xbox 360 Games for Change Challenge - the Challenge engages college students to develop games based on global warming.

It is remarkable how many individuals can be reached through video games and the increased popularity of these games with a purpose.
