AAMCO Aims for Zero Waste and Increased Efficiency Print E-mail

AAMCO announced it's Eco-Green Auto Service Certification initiative aimed at dropping its car centers waste output to zero. The initiative will also focus on improving the fuel and energy efficiency of customer's vehicles and promoting the use of less-polluting alternative fuels. Centers that meet the Eco-Green certification will make every effort to recycle solid and liquid waste, use recycled products wherever possible, and promote energy efficiency both within the shop and by customers. The biggest impact however will be the push for green services and products. For instance, an Eco-Green tune-up includes a lifetime air filter and an extended-life oil filter to reduce landfills.

GM China Goes Green Print E-mail

Shanghai GM inaugurated its Drive to Green strategy. The program covers three areas of operations: developing green products, cultivating green manufacturing systems and embracing a larger green philosophy. The goal of the program is to create better performance cars that use less fuel and emit fewer greenhouse gases. Shanghai GM is also looking at increasing its recycling abilities and have put forth a goal that 95% of all its materials and energy used in manufacturing will be recycled, that they will reduce coal consumption by 35% per car manufactured, and lower total water use and raise water reclamation by 2012.

Air France Commits to $3 Billion a Year to Cut Carbon Emissions Print E-mail

Air France announced it's commitment to spend $2.94 billion a year until 2020 to modernize its planes in order to reduce pollution and noise. Air France anticipates reducing its fuel consumption by 15 to 20% over the next five years. Air France has been modernizing their planes for the past decade with the goal of cutting fuel use and carbon emissions.

Fox Sports Crew Arrive in Hybrid Cars for Super Bowl Print E-mail

Fox Sports broadcast and technical professionals arrived in style for the Super Bowl by driving hybrid cars. The cars were supplied by EV Rental Cars, a rental car company. Fox has previously used hybrid as their mode of transportation, both for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game last year and for the Fiesta Bowl. Bill Brown, executive vice president of Fox Sports stated “In our continuing environmental efforts companywide, driving hybrid rental cars is an easy choice.”
