Green Advertising Guidelines to be Released in Canada Print E-mail

The Competition Bureau and Canadian Standards Association are partnering to release national guidelines on specific "green" terms such as recycling, chemical-related words and other environmental terms. The guidelines, currently in draft form are meant to prevent companies from "greenwashing" their consumers or simply making vague claims. The guidelines were spurred by consumer complaints and the greenwashing that companies were a part of.

US Department of Energy Scraps Clean-Coal Power Plant Build Print E-mail

The U.S. Department of Energy announced that they will not be building the world's largest clean coal power plant in Mattoon, Illinois. The Department stated that the cost had doubled since the original conception of the facility and that instead of committing to the single FutureGen site in Mattoon they would explore multiple sites around the country. The cost of the plant had been most recently estimated at 1.8 billion.
