Hydro Ottawa Recognizes Sustainability Efforts of Wal-Mart Print E-mail

Wal-Mart Canada has been present with the 'Companies for Conservation' award for the month of March by Hydro Ottawa. The award is to signify the important sustainability efforts that Wal-Mart has been making locally. "Wal-Mart is one of Ottawa's leading retailers when it comes to incorporating environmental best practices into their business," says Rosemarie Leclair, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hydro Ottawa Group of Companies. "The thousands of customers that visit their stores on a daily basis also have the opportunity to learn from their efforts."

ClimateCHECK has been working with various North American companies and assists clients in measuring, verifying and accounting for their GHG emissions. ClimateCHECK also assists in assisting clients to develop standards and protocols to gain a better return on their GHG investments.

However, some smaller companies are approaching the environment in a different manner - they are encouraging their employees to make friendlier environmental choices by giving them incentives. Incentives such as bonuses for purchasing fuel efficient vehicles. One such small company is Topics Entertainment Inc. in Renton, Washington.

HP has Carbon Offset Credits To Giveaway Print E-mail

Purchasers of Hewlett Packard printers will qualify, before Apr. 30, for unique carbon offset credit from Climate Positive.

Working with Climate Positive, a not-for-profit organization that builds renewable energy projects around the country, HP will pay for the carbon credit value over the life span of its LaserJet printer line.
