Wells Fargo & Co. announced three new eco-friendly services for Washington State Customers. The first is that any Wells Fargo customers that purchase Energy Star rated appliances with a Wells Fargo credit card are eligible to receive a 5% rebate on the total purchase amount. The second is that credit card customers enrolled in Wells Fargo Rewards Program may redeem points for gift certificates and products. The bank will match the redeemed points 100 percent up to $100,000. For instance, customers are able to redeem 5,000 points for 6,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy certificates. |

 | In the past 20 years, skateboarding has reached a new phenomenon with over 12 million kids skating. This is reportedly more kids than the number that are involved with Little League. Since the skateboard industry estimates that a child will break one board a year, a lot of trees need to be sacrificed to meet the ongoing skateboard demand. However, manufacturers such as Comet, Habitat, Loaded Boards and Sector 9 are now pioneering the boards to be eco-friendly by incorporating bamboo or hemp fiberglass. Loaded Boards use bamboo and Comet is using FSC certified maple and water-based coatings. The FSC certification means that the material is from a responsibly managed forest as outlined by international standards. | |

However, in 1996 Craig Calfee noticed that his dog was unable to gnaw through a stalk of bamboo and this gave him an idea. |

So it only makes sense that sporting equipment that is dependent on the natural surroundings for its success would go green. Two companies appear to be leading the way in creating eco-friendly snowboards by changing the materials used to make them. Venture Snowboards uses FSC certified wood from Pennsylvania (The FSC certification means that the material is from a responsibly managed forest as outlined by international standards) with a hemp and organic cotton top sheet. While Arbor builds their boards from bamboo and other sustainable harvested woods. | |

Recently, there has been an attempt to halt automobile advertisers from running green campaigns in Europe. Last December, in the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority prohibited Volkswagen to run an advertisement that portrayed the latest Golf model car as being a low-emissions vehicle. |
